While I normally say “Hold onto your hearts!” for the photos I share featuring my chickens, this one is more like “Stand back! This is one angry chicken!”
This is a photo of my boy Lefty the day he moved to a farm in the country. (This was because I can’t have roosters here in the city.) He definitely looks like he has been betrayed without any other chickens for company. Because he later looked so miserable and depressed, the next day I took Rudy to the farm to join him. (They now have their own baby chicks who look like their Dad. I will share that photo soon!)
When I look at this photo, I have a difficult time remembering this is really Lefty because in my mind he is always the curious, overly active little cockerel I raised from a fluffy little ball of baby chick feathers.
This reminds me how someone somewhere remembers each of us as our younger and more innocent self while seeing us as out future and better self…and we are loved just as we are right now.
I will do my best to post each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Every “Like,” “Follow,” and “Comment” is truly appreciated!
